The Church Meetings

“How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” 1 Corinthians 14:26-33
“Let all things be done decently and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:40
During the days before a meeting, a Christian should be asking the Holy Spirit what their part should be in the next meeting. The Holy Spirit will use your gift(s) to minister to others.
Jesus ministers to people through His anointed people in His church’s gatherings/meetings. He ministers through praise and worship, through prophesy, preaching, teaching, etc. A Christian’s gift(s) is normally used during a church meeting (service). A meeting is a great place to learn how to move in the Spirit, before going into the world to minister. Ones gift(s) are used in and outside of the church meetings.
The Holy Spirit is in charge of the meeting working through the shepherds who are ultimately responsible for the Holy Spirit’s flow throughout the meeting. The shepherds should not speak unless they know what the Holy Spirit wants them to say. They should not do anything unless they are told by the Holy Spirit to do it.
The rest of the Christians in the meeting should also follow the Holy Spirit's leading.
The meeting starts as the Holy Spirit directs: with a song, a prayer, a prophesy, a teaching, a tongue with an interpretation, etc. Anyone being directed by the Holy Spirit can start a meeting. A person should pray only as he/she is directed by the Holy Spirit.
A woman can speak in the meeting as she is led by the Holy Spirit. A husband and wife relationship is written about in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. The Greek word for women can also be translated wives. The Greek word for men can be translated husbands. A woman can speak about spiritual things to others in a meeting as she is led by the Holy Spirit!
So, a meeting may or may not have preaching or teaching. The meeting will most likely have many involved in speaking as the Holy Spirit leads. A meeting is not ‘tradition driven’, but it is ‘Holy Spirit driven/guided’!
The Holy Spirit may have a Christian speak in a tongue after a song, during the preaching or teaching, etc. There should be an interpretation, so the church should wait and may even encourage a person with the interpretation to speak, if an interpretation doesn’t come continue on with the meeting.
The Holy Spirit may have a Christian give a prophesy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, etc. after a song, during the sermon, during the teaching, etc.
The preaching, the teaching, a prophesy, a word of knowledge or wisdom, etc. can be about totally different topics. Christians have many different needs. The Holy Spirit will minister to those different needs.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16
All of the 17 gifts can be manifested in the church’s meeting. The churches that allow for the Holy Spirit’s leading are very exciting being full of suspense. Those in attendance don’t know what is going to happen next!
Man’s traditions maybe from the past, but new ones are made-up annually if not monthly.
Examples
Children’s church
“… when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a …” ! Corinthians 14:26
This verse is saying when everyone comes together all members may have a part in the meeting. 1 Corinthians 14 doesn’t say some adults and all the children should leave for children’s church!
At the church I started and pastored in
Worship team
Who decides the members of a worship team?
In the New Covenant are worship teams taught?
The whole church is a worship team; the Holy Spirit should be in leadership!
The Bible says “…every one of you hath a psalm …” 1 Corinthians
Prayer intercessors
Who are prayer intercessors? The Holy Bible teaches all Christians are prayer intercessors not just some.
“And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.” Luke 5:26
The church based on men’s traditions is setup to do things by a manmade order of events. During December of 2005, I was teaching in an Apostolic Oneness Pentecostal church’s AM meeting. At 2 minutes before
In my ministry overseas, we helped to set-up churches like Azusa Street Mission! Overseas they don't know about the false worship system here in the USA. They look at Acts 2 and following thinking that is the only way to have a meeting. Regularly, people were healed, demons cast out, receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, etc.
Ninety-nine percent of the church meetings in the
